Q.  4 Why did Selo throw away the bat and ball into the bushes? What did he think about the way he behaved?

A.  4  Selo threw the bat and the ball into the bushes for he was angry at not being allowed to play second. This shows his rudeness.

Q.  5  Why didn't the children play cricket during the rest of the rainy season?

A.  5  The children didn't play for the rest of the rainy season, for two reasons:

(i)      The rains made it difficult for play and other than that

(ii)      Both Amy and Vern were still angry with Selo and ignored his attempts to draw their attention.

Q.  6   Vern and Amy resumed playing cricket after the rainy season. How did they treat Selo then?

A.  6   Amy and Vern readily welcomed Selo and gave hi, the brand new bat to bat first.

Q.  7   Selo when he was asked to bat first, said, "I cried as though it were raining." Why did he cry?
